About This Work
It was June 1987, when Storm Thorgerson's 'Momentary Lapse of Reason' came to life, transforming Devon's Saunton Sands into the surreal stage for Pink Floyd's 13th album cover.
With an army of help, many of whom were locals, this unforgettable scene was created and is still remembered today by those who took part and witnessed the enourmity of the project, recalling the great buzz it sparked throughout Barnstaple.
Storm originally wanted 1000, but in the end he could only get 700 hospital beds for the shoot. Washed out by typical English rain the entire set had to be dismantled and re-set a few weeks later, when this final image was created. It still remains one of Thorgersons most iconic images almost 40 years on.
We believe this un-signed and un-numbered edition is likely the first one ever created. With its unique colour variation, it sets itself apart from all others in the Edition. A beautiful silkscreen, in mint condition and a very rare find.
