About Richard Evans
Richard Evans founded his own studio in 1976 and his first job was designing a tour programme for The Who. That commission turned into a career-long relationship with the band. He went on to design the covers for Quadrophenia, The Kids Are Alright, Hooligans, Face Dances, Who's Missing, Two's Missing, Live at the Royal Albert Hall and many more, as well as sleeves for Pete Townshend's solo albums including White City and All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes.
In 1981 Evans worked alongside Peter Blake on the cover for Face Dances, and Blake's influence can be seen throughout his work, particularly in the collage-based Who's Missing and Two's Missing covers. The Who's Missing artwork was painted on wood from a packing case that Evans found outside the old Marquee Club in Wardour Street, Soho.
