About Rachel Ducker
Rachel Ducker originally trained as a jeweller. One day, left alone in a florist's shop, she started fiddling with the wire used to tie bouquets and made a rough sculpture of her boyfriend. They put it in the window, someone wanted to buy it, and that's where it all began.
Her wire figures are shaped entirely by hand, wrapped and bent layer by layer until the posture is right. The sculptures have no facial features. Instead, the emotion comes through gesture, stance and flowing, wind-swept hair. The slightest tilt of a head or angle of a finger changes everything. Her work ranges from small winged figures to life-size commissions, and she has been privately commissioned by Rolls-Royce. She has exhibited across the UK and internationally, and her work has been featured in The Sunday Times and The Times.
