About Mul
Alex Mulholland, known as Mul, started painting colourful murals on shop shutters in Heaton, Newcastle and has since covered walls in Glasgow, London, Manchester, Rome, Berlin and Amsterdam. His style draws on music, pop culture and the energy of artists like Keith Haring and Shepard Fairey, and he has coined what he does as "Disco Style."
His popularity grew rapidly after lockdown in 2020 and in 2023 he held an immersive exhibition at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead. His Running Heart character has become one of the most recognisable pieces of street art in the North East.
